Senior teams
Helping your C-suite find their A-game
Our Senior Teams practice works to make senior teams as functional as possible. We advise on team structure, composition and dynamics. We get to know team members individually so we can coach the team as a whole on how to work together more effectively.
Senior teams are a critical and very visible part of the system of any organisation. Typically they set strategy, and are totemic in shaping culture. So getting your senior team working is an essential first step to having a functional business.
And even when the individuals that make up a senior team may have worked together before or even known each other for many years, working together as a senior team often requires them to learn new behaviours and new ways of relating to each other.
We advise on:
Team structure – which roles and responsibilities does the team need;
Team composition - who should fill these roles; and
Team dynamics - helping these individuals work together to achieve their objectives as a senior team.
Examples of our clients
Arm Holdings is a $30bn semiconductor and software design company owned by SoftBank and its Vision Fund. It is headquartered in Cambridge, England, with operations in 20 countries worldwide. We worked with Arm’s newly-created UK Senior Leadership Team to agree what role it would play and how it would operate.
SystemShift’s work with us helped set up our new UK Leadership Team for success. We agreed what the team’s work was and how we needed to work together to get this done. Elsbeth’s facilitation and advice helped us get there.

COO of Arm Holdings and Chair of Arm UK’s Senior Leadership Team
Immunocore is a privately-owned, leading T-cell receptor biotechnology company. Focusing on oncology and autoimmune diseases, they have an exciting pipeline of both proprietary and partnered programmes - with the likes of Genentech, AstraZeneca, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. We worked with their Senior Team to help them decide on the core competencies the business needed to develop as it grew; and on the culture they wanted to shape to support this growth.
Elsbeth’s work with our senior team was key for us in clarifying our role and refining our strategy, whilst going into a significant period of growth and change. As a result of Elsbeth’s facilitation, we were brought together and created the foundation for much better discussions - and much clearer decisions. This was made possible by the process, the experience and the skill that Elsbeth brings – and she brings it every time.”
Eliot Forster
then CEO of Immunocore; now CEO of F-star Therapeutics
Part of QBE Group, QBE’s European Insurance business writes over US $4bn in premiums annually, across 16 countries. We worked with them to help establish their new Senior Leadership Team, and to agree the team’s purpose and shared way of working.
We worked with SystemShift to kick off our new senior team. We all knew each other already, but taking the time to put the right foundations in place was critical. Elsbeth advised us on the process and led us through the steps. Her deep understanding of us, both individually and as a business, meant we couldn’t have worked with anyone else to get the results we needed in the timescales we had.
